Back from Phuket

Image
Wah go already don't feel like coming back lol, there so relaxing, sunny, beaches, windy, friendly people, actually I find that the culture there overall friendlier than compared to Bangkok, see if you go BKK, after you leave the airport first thing is people tout and try to overcharge you for taxi, they can get a bit pushy, or anywhere else in Bangkok, tuk tuk drivers or taxi drivers can get too pushy whereas in Phuket, they have pricing clearly stated on big boards, can't possibly miss it and it's up to you to take it or not. But beware the taxi in Phuket is freaking expensive, just short trip of 2-3 KM can cost you 300-400 Baht. You can try Grab but not much difference I guess, maybe depend on luck. Uber don't work in Phuket. As you can see below, from my resort to the airport is 350 Baht for GrabCar, when I came I paid 300 Baht for taxi (the counter girl gave me discount, original was 400 Baht according to price guide) so Grab really not much cheaper. It's a

Back from Genting Trip

Image
Just came back from my Genting trip , quite disappointing but at least I got what I went for. Scenery and "air" What really attracted me was the scenery and the mountain air, but now it is so much different from when I went 5 years ago, they changed until quite difficult to get outside, from First World Hotel have to go up the new Sky Avenue Mall level 4 then walk to the Malaysian Food Street, up two escalators then walk a bit more before I can reach outside. Ok la, at least I got what I came for, beautiful mountain view and misty air, mission accomplished. But actually if really want scenery and have too much money to spend can just book Genting Grand Hotel, but it is not cheap. It has the ultimate view and main entrance go out can see the misty air already, shiok. Travel time Left Golden Mile at 6.32am, reached First World Hotel at 1.43pm, 7 hours+. Come back we left Genting at 11.55am+, reached Golden Mile around 8pm+. Yong Peng If go Genting how can not pass

Phuket Trip 13 Nov 2017 to 17 Nov 2017

Air ticket to the airport $458.49 for me, wife and baby. Now baby 2 years old so have to buy a seat for her which is a good thing, previously want to buy but cannot buy because not yet 2 years old, strange policy. As for hotel, total is $222.68 for 4 nights, it's a resort near to the Nai Yang Beach (Phuket Airport Sonwa Resort), so it's a beach resort and so cheap, usually beach resort costs a lot. We'll just have to see why so cheap. Anyway another reason why I choose this resort is because it is very near to the airport so no need to worry about rushing to the airport. Then for spending, now still thinking how much I need to change, thinking maybe $900, or is it too much, not sure if there is any shopping there or not, I don't mind eating all day and drinking beer though. So after Phuket, where should I go? I want to plan a string of holidays and forget about the shit in Singapore.

Genting Trip 09 Nov 2017 to 11 Nov 2017

I took one month leave from work , now finally can get away from all that shit, this week decided to go Genting, last time I went was in 2012 , that time exchange rate was $1 to 2.385 ringgit, now is $1 to 3.05 ringgit, so much difference. That time I think I changed $700, now changed $300 have 915 ringgit. Booked hotel online 09 Nov check-in, 11 Nov check-out, total 160 ringgit, about $52. For bus bought at Golden Mile Sri Maju, 1 person $40 (bought 3 for $120, me, wife and baby). They have another option for $30 but this cheaper option will make a stop at Kuala Lumpur. I never bought return, just buy at Genting much cheaper. So total $300 + $52 + $120 = $472 Oh by the way if you buy the bus ticket there no surcharge, if you buy online they will charge extra per person, so if buy for a lot of people it's better to just to there to buy. So after Genting, I might go to Thailand, this time go somewhere else, don't go Bangkok.

Took One Month Off

Yesterday really cannot take it anymore told boss want to quit, he kept asking me to stay, jia lat, actually already give up on the job, don't see it going anywhere, the only thing worth staying for is the money, but have money not happy no use, I mean just think about it, money is just numbers, or just something that is required to pay the bills, why have to stress over it, no point. So in the end he told me to take a break and asked me how long I want, wow such a surprise, I just randomly said one month and he actually agreed lol. Since he agreed then why not, nothing to lose for me. After clearing annual leave and childcare leave, have to take 11 days no pay leave which I'm totally ok with, one whole month no pay leave I also don't mind, just want to get away from this shit right now. I will make good use of this leave, really get my life in order, feel like I've been rotting away physically and mentally for a long time, should really take the time to adjust back

FoodPanda Cock-Up

Today ordered from Salt & Pepper, supposed to send at 6.45pm, then 6.45pm someone from foodpanda called me say the shop closed, wtf if shop closed then why take my order. Never mind, I order again, this time from Fish & Chicks. This time the order late, say 30 mins, after 30 mins, say 12 mins more lol wtf. I think they are seriously short-handed, maybe I can go join them and be a delivery panda lol

Changes to PR Application

Image
So from 18 Dec 2017 all have to submit online, no more counter submission, which is a good thing, can do at own convenience, hope they have a draft system so can progressively update, imagine you update halfway then have to do it all over again lol. Also seems like the application fees will be revised but not sure go up or go down. When my wife got hers, we paid total of $200 ; $100 for entry permit, $50 for re-entry permit ($10 per year for 5 years), $50 for blue IC. So new system they only mentioned the Entry Permit but never mention the Re-Entry Permit. Anyway I guess people don't mind la, can get PR is already worth celebrating, who cares about that few dollars.

Why Other Companies So Good

Recently I was working with one of my company's major competitor, it happened because an interface was required by the government agency from their system to my system. So for competitors to work together, it's not really like in the movies or dramas where people fight it out, in reality it is very professional, very focused on what needs to be done, no blaming if something goes wrong, if there is a problem we just fix it, at least from what I have experienced so far. And while talking to their project manager, I heard that they have a team lead, a business analyst and looking at the people with their company's domain name in the email loop, they have a bunch of developers or technical persons. As for me, I am the project manager, the business analyst, the tester, heck I even do the deployment, one-man show but I do have developers helping me translate design to code but bloody hell I have to do the design too. I've been thinking about the multi-task multi-role no
