Went to Pulau Ubin

So many years never go, today public holiday and wife and baby went to Thailand for Songkran so nothing to do I joined my colleagues for a short trip.

Had breakfast at Changi Village Hawkers Centre, it's the one with the famous nasi lemak, wanted to buy but the queue damn long, ended up I bought the hainan curry rice, it's really nice but strangely no queue at all. There's also a few stalls selling this white coconut water, this one super power, one big glass only $1.

After that took a ferry to Pulau Ubin, one trip is $3, so go and come back is $6. No need to buy ticket, just queue up, board and pay the boat captain. The queue quite long though, we waited for the ferry at around 10am, I guess if you go around lunch should have less people. But take note the ferry ends around 5 or 6pm, I'm not sure of the exact timing as I heard from my colleague, so better check properly and don't miss the last ferry.

Last time I went there was 11 or 12 years ago, that time don't even have terminal, it's just a few boats parked around and you ask any of the captain to bring you over, that time I think was $2 per trip.

On the island they also did a lot of improvements, now after you disembark, it's a nice terminal, walk a bit there's several shops renting bicycles, also have coffee shops selling tze char, some convenience stores, there's also a nice public toilet right after the disembark.

Also if you ride further in, NParks also made a lot of improvements to the nature area, feels like taking a walk in the zoo. By the way they also have vending machines selling water, soft drinks and energy drinks so don't really need to bring your own water, price is alright, one can drink is $1.50, bottle is $2, for a tourist area still way cheaper than Sentosa.

I rented a bicycle $18 for whole day, they also have other price range, heard have $8, $10, $15, $25, many shops can rent, I think very worth it since it is for whole day.

For lunch we ate on the island, tried the tze char, price is like main island coffeeshop tze char price, usually at tourist spot everything is marked up significantly but on Ubin I find it reasonable.

We left the island at around 2.45pm, after that went for a short stroll at changi beach, feels like east coast park.

Overall not bad la, worth visiting, but bring young children have to be extra careful, some bicycle trails can be quite dangerous with some steep areas, also while walking the park, as some areas don't have barriers, people who are not careful might fall over, better watch your steps and your kids.
